El premio, que se otorga por segundo año consecutivo, reconoce las obras producidas durante el año pasado en nueve categorías, que comprenden creaciones audiovisuales, literatura, música y arte comunitario.

| La sala Ríos Reyna del Teatro Teresa Carreño será el escenario donde el próximo sábado 30 de junio a las 7:00 de la noche, se homenajearán a los artistas nacionales que obtuvieron el Premio Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura 2006. Además de la presentación de los ganadores, y de unas palabras de reconocimiento por parte del ministro del Poder Popular para la Cultura, Francisco Sesto, el acto incluye una producción musical y dancística a cargo del Instituto de las Artes Escénicas y Musicales (IAEM), que ofrecerá un recorrido por las tradiciones de varias regiones del país. "Nuestra intención, con esta producción, es aprovechar la ocasión para dejar plasmada la riqueza musical y dancística del pueblo venezolano", explicó la presidenta del IAEM, Silvia Díaz Alvarado. Todas las regiones del país En representación de los pueblos indígenas, el chamán Jesús "Mocobito" Rojas ofrecer� un recital de música ritual de la etnia warao, ejecutada con el violín seke-seke. El folklore de Oriente estar� presente en la voz del cantor sucrense Hernán Marín, quien interpretar� un joropo con estribillo. La alegre musicalidad de las regiones Centro/Costa se har� sentir a través de un toque de tambor en honor a San Juan de Guatire, gracias a la participación de un ensamble compuesto por Betzaida y Nereida Machado Martínez, Adrián Oscar Lista, Alexander Jos� Livinalli y Edgar Avariano. Desde Occidente llegan dos manifestaciones muy distintas. Por un parte, estar� presente el tamunangue, interpretado por la agrupación larense Los Golperos del Tocuyo; además, participarán Los Chimbangueles de San Benito de Palermo, de la población zuliana de Bobures. Por último, en representación del llano venezolano se presentará el cantante popular Vidal Colmenares, junto con su agrupación Los Cabestreros de Guanarito, quienes presentarán un joropo recio. Todas estas manifestaciones musicales serán acompañadas por el elenco de danza tradicional de la Fundación Compañía Nacional de Danza, ente adscrito al Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura creado en el año 2006, y presidido por la bailarina y docente Alice Dotta. El Premio Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Cultura 2006, que se otorga por segundo año consecutivo, reconoce las obras producidas durante el año pasado en nueve categorías, que comprenden creaciones audiovisuales, literatura, música y arte comunitario.
